Restartnaija Conventions: Moving from nation of favourite slaves to a nation of kings

A true king is one who has a lifetime responsibility for the growth, harmony and pride (or defense) of a specific community and nation for a better world.

  1. Lifetime responsibility: like a parent’s inescapable responsibility to a child, a king does not run away or stop being responsible when things become difficult. He does not choose deviate to another community or nation because his own is not moving fast enough. He stays and keeps working on it as long as he lives.
  2. Growth: he has the lifetime responsibility to inspire and support the professional growth or industrial creativity of all the members of his community and nation by forming, building, equipping and defending a free, firm and prosperous industrial network in his community and nation.
  3. Harmony: he has the lifetime responsibility to integrate, incorporate and smoothen the relationship between the various members of the community and nation by creating mental forms, belief-systems and practices that guide people to act in ways that support the peaceful co-existence of everyone in the community and nation.
  4. Pride (defense): he has the lifetime responsibility to promote, support and defend the activities that enable the various members of his community and nation to proudly manifest their socio-industrial products, services, environment and ways of life to the whole world.
  5. Specific Community and Nation: A king is a king of somewhere, not a king of everywhere, anywhere or even nowhere. This means that a king’s primary responsibility for inspiring growth, harmony and pride must be situated in a specific community first, then a nation before he moves to influence the world. It is from building his specific community and nation that a king can mobilize the resources to influence other parts of the world

Necessary conditions for true kingship (Tripod stand of freedom)

  1. Stable political alliances with trusted and like-minded people through a mutually benefiting ideology.
  2. Stable economic power from productive partnerships through private property rights and capacity for self-defense.
  3. Stable programs for the manifestation of harmonious growth through socio-industrial contests.

Barriers to true kingship in Africa (Tripod stand of bondage)

  1. Imposed nationhood: This is the violently colonial merger of various unconsented and unrelated communities and kingdoms for the purpose of extracting their human and natural resources. This colonially forged nations have been held using the colonial ideology of favourite slaves, which is the belief that Africans are naturally inferior and will always depend of foreign intervention to survive, and that the most Europeanized Africans must man the four institutions of public control (government, religion, academia and mass media) to sustain the foreign intervention.
  2. Land-expropriation law and economic dictatorship. This is the colonial grabbing or deprivation of private ownership of lands from African communities, families and individuals, which was codified at the Berlin conference of 1885, enforced through wars in the early 1900s and later transferred to neocolonial governments during independence for the continued exploitation of the people’s resources.
  3. Contest for foreign products and positions, which breeds mental slavery and local hatred. Since the people’s rights to their resources have been seized, Africans keep fighting one another to occupy the colonial positions in government, religion, academia and mass media in order to get access to the foreign products, services and support.

Ending this narrative through a Restart Nation Conference may be difficult for many reasons. Yet, we only have two choices: either we keep watching as our people vote for continued bondage in this colonial system, or we usher in a new system for the actualization of the nation of kings.
